Introduction to 16Mn seamless steel pipe

Keywords:16Mn seamless steel pipe, Q345B seamless pipe & tube
What is 16Mn seamless steel pipe ?

16Mn is low-alloy high-strength structural steel: the carbon content is 0.1%-0.25%, and the main alloying elements manganese, silicon, vanadium, niobium and titanium are added; its total alloy content is less than 3%. According to the intensity, it is divided into 4 levels: 300, 350, 400 and 450MPa. Mainly include Q295, Q345, Q390, Q420 and Q460. "Q" is the capital Chinese pinyin of the word "Qu" for yield. The following numbers are the minimum yield point (σs) value of the grade. The following symbols are based on the impurity element (sulfur, phosphorus) content of the steel from high to low. Low and with changes in carbon and manganese elements, it is divided into four grades: A, B, C, and D. Among them, A and B grade steel are usually called 16Mn.

A material in 16Mn seamless pipe & tube. In the past, it was a name for Q345B seamless steel pipe. The current name is: Q345B seamless steel pipe. Similar materials are Q345C, Q345D, and Q345E. The quality grade symbols A B C D E respectively represent different requirements for impact tests. The impact test temperatures are +20 degrees, 0 degrees, -20 degrees, and 40 degrees.

16Mn is the classification of seamless steel pipe:

ABCD represents quality grade. Q235 quality grade is divided into four levels: A, B, C, and D. A to D represents quality from low to high.
The requirements for different quality levels are as follows:
A——Provide the chemical composition of S, P, C, Mn, Si and fu, fy, δ5 (δ10). The 1800 cold bending test can be provided according to the buyer's needs, but there is no impact energy requirement, and the carbon content and manganese content are not included. delivery conditions.
B——Provides S, P, C, Mn, Si chemical composition and fu, fy, δ5 (δ10), cold bending 180' test. It also provides impact power Ak≥27J at +200C.
C——In addition to the same requirements as Class B, it also provides impact energy Ak≥27J at 00C.
D----In addition to the same requirements as Class B, it also provides the impact energy Ak≥27J at -200C. E—In addition to the same requirements as Class B, it also provides the impact energy Ak≥27J at -400C.

Chemical composition of 16Mn seamless steel pipe: C: 0.12~0.20; Mn: 1.20~1.60; Si: 0.20~0.55; Tensile strength: 470~660 N/mm2; Yield strength: 275~345 N/mm2; Elongation Growth rate: 21%.

Hot rolled or normalized:

16Mn seamless steel pipe, 16MnR and 19Mng are merged into Q345R. Q345R is an ordinary low-alloy steel. It is a commonly used steel for boiler and pressure vessels. The delivery status is: hot-rolled or normalized. It is a low-alloy steel with a low Mn content. The performance is similar to 20G (412-540), the tensile strength is slightly stronger (450-655), and the elongation is 19-21%, which is worse than 20G which is more than 24%. Q345R process reference standard GB713-2008.

16Mn seamless steel pipe is a special plate for pressure vessels with a yield strength of 340MPa. It has good comprehensive mechanical properties and process performance. The phosphorus and sulfur content are slightly lower than ordinary 16Mn steel. In addition to the tensile strength and elongation requirements being higher than ordinary 16Mn steel, impact toughness is also required to be ensured. It is the most widely used and widely used special steel plate for pressure windows in my country.

Weight calculation formula:
[(Outer diameter-wall thickness)*wall thickness]*0.02466=kg/meter (weight per meter)

Use:
The special steel type used for bridges is "16Mnq", the special steel type used for automobile girders is "16MnL", and the special steel type used for pressure vessels is "16MnR".

This type of steel relies on adjusting the carbon content (C) to improve the mechanical properties of the steel. Therefore, according to the carbon content, this type of steel can be divided into:
Low carbon steel - the carbon content is generally less than 0.25%, such as 10, 20 steel, etc.;
Medium carbon steel - the carbon content is generally between 0.25 and 0.60%, such as 35, 45 steel, etc.;
High carbon steel - carbon content is generally greater than 0.60%. This type of steel is generally not used to make steel pipes.

Main features:
It has good comprehensive performance, good low temperature performance, cool stamping performance, good welding performance and good machinability.

Application examples:

Mining, transportation, chemical industry and other various machinery.
